What is your career/job? Materials Engineer / Life Support Scientist (Space Plumber)
How long have you been doing CrossFit and/or Yoga? Since the end of 2012, so about 3 years.
Why did you decide to try CrossFit and/or Yoga? My friends lost a TON of weight doing it.
How often to you go to Metacomet? 3-5 times a week.
How do you find the time to get it all in? It’s not that much time. Typically I use it as an excuse to leave work ON TIME rather than stay late, or I come back after feeling refreshed.
What is your favorite WOD (workout of the day) or asana (pose)? Cindy – 20 minute, as many reps as possible of 5 pullups, 10 pushups, 15 air squats. It’s got a nice steady rhythm to it, and the reps are reasonable to accomplish for 20 minutes.
Savasana – Because I almost fall asleep every time.
What results or changes have you experienced – physically/mentally? My core is way, way, WAY, more stable. I have seriously increased my body awareness, so when I’m moving heavy loads at work I know how to handle it, and it makes me happy.
What is your diet/lifestyle like? Diet is paleo most of the time, aka with beer and cheating on weekends, because that’s my social group’s thing to do. I’m trying to turn it into paleo-zone during the week to the best of my ability. My lifestyle is very sedentary, so it’s good to get up and move after a day of work.
How would you describe the Metacomet community? We’re super laid back for a crossfit gym. There’s plenty of encouragement, but no one is screaming in your face like a drill instructor. It’s about doing the reps, but doing them right every time. I look forward to going to the gym every day.
