Testimonials

Julianne Arnold:

Thank you for your support and encouragement. You, Christina and all the yoga instructors are just the best!  I shared 2 weeks ago that I received the best news ever from my doctor. And reason for this message/testimonial. After years on cholesterol meds, I am off them. And 26 lbs lighter. I still have a ways to go. I am happy that you provide a supportive and fun environment to help me complete this journey. I started at Metacomet Crossfit & Yoga for yoga about a year ago. I was an athlete all my life up through college. Nothing really stuck until I found yoga. Injuries kept getting me off track and coming to class regularly. I would get frustrated and discouraged, then an email from you would show up. That was what I needed to get back to my routine. You and all the yoga instructors are great. No judgements. Always helping to adopt a yoga practice or crossfit workout based in where I am. My diet changes and yoga workouts were working for weight loss but I needed to kick things up a notch. There comes the crossfit. Did an intro class in August. I was hooked. I love that every time in walk through that door I challenge myself, whether it's yoga or Crossfit. And these days I'd rather be on my mat or in the gym than just about any place else.

Excellent coaches! I was intimidated by 'Crossfits' reputation, but this Middle-aged, man that had not worked out in a while, took a deep breath and went in. I expected to see a bunch of hyper fit twenty something's working out at a level way beyond my abilities. I could not have been more wrong! The friendly, no judgement, TEAM atmosphere, is nothing like a regular gym. Dan and Christina know their stuff and they scale everything to your own abilities. Having them there in the classes is like having a permanent personal trainer on hand. That is what you are paying for. The results I have seen over the past 6 months speak for themselves. I cannot recommend Metacomet Highly enough.

Paige Diamond:

Having played team sports from my childhood all the way through college, I was a bit unsure of  how to maintain my fitness when I graduated.  Over the years I tried various activities including:  running on my own, running in groups, group aerobics classes, and “body pump” classes at big gyms.  While all these activities quenched my thirst for activity, it wasn’t until I joined Metacomet that I continuously had a great workout (both strength and metabolic) in an atmosphere that promotes that team feeling again. Classes are small enough that each person receives individualized attention – sometimes even having sessions with 1 or 2 people;  the trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and are able to tailor workouts for each person’s age, abilities, or injuries; and when your muscles and/or mind needs something different, you can use the same membership for yoga classes!  Doesn’t get better than this – I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Greg Dambach:

I moved to Connecticut last January.  The first item on my moving agenda when I arrived was to join a crossfit gym.  I researched the local area and found a newly opened one very close to where I was going to work.

I came from a previous crossfit gym in Virginia.  Although the owner was very knowledgeable, his background was in wrestling - very aggressive.  I was always beat down and it was a challenge completing 30 to 45 mins of their workouts.

When I moved to CT, it turns out that I found the perfect “Box” for my personal development.  Dan and Christina at Metacomet are wonderful.  They scale the workouts of the day for my ability and although I can push myself to destruction, they are very attentive and do not allow me to self-destruct.  At the same time, they know how to push me when I’m not otherwise motivated, in a safe and satisfying way.

I am amazed at how much strength and confidence I’m gaining with the movements. In an environment like Metacomet, where everyone is friendly, encouraging, and all are welcome, it is easy to stay motivated and committed to going to the gym.  I usually go early in the morning and the rest of my day I feel like I can take on the world.

To top it all off, they even have Yoga classes! I didn’t think I could ever take a Yoga class, but the teachers are great and the classes compliment crossfit perfectly.  I cannot recommend this crossfit gym enough.  You don’t need to be a superb athlete to join Metacomet but after a few months of dedication, you will definitely feel like one.

Margaret Rosenberg:

I was always intrigued by this phenomenon called Crossfit, but like so many, was afraid to try it. I came up with every excuse in the book. "I'm too old, I'm too out of shape, I'm too over-weight, I don't have the time". Sound familiar?

I happened to see an ad through the town of Windsor that Metacomet Crossfit & Yoga was offering an introductory Crossfit class. I decided to "cross this off my bucket list" and went. Dan walked me through the whole routine. I found him to be very knowledgable about fitness and nutrition. After all, they do go hand-in-hand.

This may seem inconsequential, but two months earlier, I broke my ankle running. I was so afraid of reinjuring it, but Dan was encouraging and worked with me to modify my workouts until my ankle became stronger. Not only has my confidence in myself improved, my strength and health have as well. Dan and Christina are very conscientious of watching everyone during each workout. They are diligent about making sure everyone is in the right form. They respect your concerns, but know when to push you a little more to maximize your workout.

I have always been athletic, but never enjoyed "working out", until I was lucky enough to find MC&Y. The people encourage each other and there's a wonderful sense of camaraderie. Do yourself a favor and come for an introductory session. You will see that Crossfit really is for everyone!
